A taste of paradise...

I didn't actually do a great deal on this wonderful island. After two years of slog at home, dreaming of getting away again, all I wanted was a beach, sea and a pile of good books. I found that and much much more. I met some lovely people, both tourists and locals, ate tasty seafood, swam in the warm sea, drank cheap local whisky and carried out thorough research into the benefits of the local herbal produce. Need I say more?

A lovely Australian couple I met - Craig and Vib

As you can see from the pictures, pretty hard not to relax in such a great place? The couple in the picture above are from Brisbane and I first noticed them because Craig had the biggest, warmest smile I'd seen for a long time, (possibly influenced by what he was smoking at the time), matched by a wonderful personality. We got to talking as you do about all manner of things but especially pies. (It was that kind of day).

Needless to say, like many Australians, Craig loves his pies. I felt dutybound as a previous resident of Melton Mowbray to discuss the particular merits of the Dickinson & Morris Pork Pie, the champion of pies. All other pork pies are pale imitators, believe me.
Craig is a little sceptical about the aspic jelly in which the meat rests within a pork pie but has promised to give it a try when he reaches England, which is sometime around September I think.

So...lets see if technology can span the world and aid his search for pork pies. He'll probably be in London working in a bar (there's a surprise) but who knows where he will end up on his search?

If you see this man... buy him a pie, buy him a pint, hug him, take him home to meet your mum, talk to him about pies - there is nothing this crazy man doesn't know about pies! Take a picture of him eating a pie and send it to me - lets make this boy famous! Pass on the details of this website to all your friends - we have to find this man, wherever he is and make him famous for something. You never know - he may even end up visiting Melton Mowbray in person. Now, wouldn't that be a treat?
Be vigilant, he could be in a pub, restaurant, sporting venue or urinal near you!

He and his charming (and possibly long suffering partner Vib) are  lovely and as you can see from the picture below, we got on very well. Seriously, if you see them , they're wonderful - make them welcome but most importantly - don't forget the pie!

Craig and me - help this man find pies! Find him, hug him and then buy him a pie!
